One delightful thing about doujinshi is when they put the story hook right there in the title: How Did I Get Turned into a Cute Doll? How, indeed? Amulai Sweets Factory, once again in collaboration with Kuratsuka Riko, asks the question and here we are, salivating away for the answer.

Of course, the form of the question does provide us some tasty morsels of information. Since we’re talking about doujinshi here, the title lets us know that we’re dealing with an involuntary TSF story–not unlike the artist and author’s previous collaboration, I Wanted to Have a Lesbian Get a Taste of My Cock, but I Got Turned Into a Girl Instead! The title also uses the word “doll,” so it’s safe to conclude that the plot is going to involve some sort of mind control and/or erasure.

So that’s an exciting start, but since there’s still mystery here and this is an informational blog entry, let’s go beyond what the title offers us.

The circle’s previous release spiced up its TSF story with exclusively yuri action. How Did I Get Turned into a Cute Doll? brings dicks into the picture, but adds NTR elements, resulting in a story greater than the sum of its parts.

Mario is happily dating Momo-chan when his rival, the wealthy and eccentric Ayatsuri, casts an enchantment on Mario, transferring his soul into the body of a maid doll at the Ayatsuri estate. Powerless without the mana Ayatsuri provides, Mario–now Mei–must wait for her irresponsible master to give her the ability even to move. Another title for this doujinshi might have been “What Happens to a Man in the Body of a Cute Maid Doll when His Negligent Master Leaves Her in a Closet,” but I guess that’s what they’ll call the doujin’s upcoming light novel adaptation.

The plot elements are on the darker side of things, but Kuratsuka Riko’s clean, joesei-style art brings a gentleness to the proceedings that keeps the story from feeling too dour. As a nice bonus, it also highlights the cuteness of the characters, especially of our transformed maid.
